This month we talked about battery to battery charging with Morningstar controllers. All  Morningstar MPPT controllers can be used to facilitate battery to battery charging.  PWM controllers, however, cannot be used in this type of application.  The ProStar MPPT and TriStar MPPT controllers have a few advanced programming capabilities such as maximum charge current and a fixed input voltage which can be an extra benefit.  It is also important to note that the battery being charged must be at a lower voltage than the battery doing the charging.
