Congratulations to Russell Borum who just celebrated 16 years at Morningstar. As a Senior Account Manager, Russell brings technical sales, engineering and business development experience in the PV and Power Electronics’ industries to Morningstar Corporation. Prior to joining Morningstar, Russell was a Field Sales Engineer at IDEC Corporation, where he was responsible for distribution sales and technical support. At Morningstar, since 2007, Russell is responsible for contributing to the company’s regional and global sales engineering efforts. In this role, he is focused on driving forward growth for Morningstar’s international business as well as helping to evolve the company’s product portfolio to meet the growing needs of the renewable solar energy market.
Russell holds a B.S. degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University, and an MPA from Columbia University. He has lived abroad in Spain and Mozambique and is proficient in Spanish. His bi-lingual skills complement his engineering expertise in helping to grow and support Morningstar’s global customer base. His contributions have assisted Morningstar Corporation in becoming the world’s leader in solar charge controllers & inverters as well as in setting new standards in performance, innovative features, quality & reliability as well as customer focus.
His hobbies include hiking, fishing, scuba diving and traveling.

The Electrical Test Engineer HYBRID will work with our current design and test team for both New Product Development, Sustaining Engineering, and Manufacturing Support functions. The experienced electronic testing technician will safely and accurately perform a variety of inspecting, testing, manufacturer warranty and modification support; troubleshooting, start-up, maintenance and repair onsite on electronic boards, low and medium voltage electrical equipment and batteries.

Morningstar attended RE+/SPI from September 12-14 at the Venetian Convention & Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Our new SureSine off-grid inverters and GenStar MPPT DC Power Solutions were in the booth, in addition to the complete line of Morningstar products and accessories.
Morningstar attended Entelec (Energy Telecommunications and Electrical Association) Fall Series on October 4-5 in Odessa, Texas. This event covered all aspects of digitalization and operational efficiencies, 5G and next gen wireless, SCADA, IoT, field communications, cybersecurity and regulatory developments. Morningstar’s Director of Product Marketing Brad Berwald presented “Solar Power for Today’s Digital Oilfield” to the largest audience in the event’s history.
Morningstar attended WISPApalooza on October 9-12 in Las Vegas. The Wireless Internet Service Providers Association holds this event where thousands of Internet Service Providers go to discuss fiber, wireless, operations, financial, networking, policy and regulation.
Brad presented during the Power to the Tower session topic on “Creative solutions for pre, on and off grid sites – building in areas that are not already provisioned with power can be cost prohibitive in addition to rising energy costs – solutions to resolve.” .
We exhibited at TowerXchange Meetup Africa from October 17-18 in Johannesburg, South Africa to discuss the current and future power infrastructure needs of the African tower industry. On display was Morningstar’s solar hybrid energy solution which is already serving over 1,000 sites globally.
Our team met with customers and exhibited in Melbourne for All-Energy Australia on October 25-26. Held in partnership with the Clean Energy Council, this free-to-attend event provides delegates with access to the latest technology, information and trends relevant to those working or investing in the renewables sector. In our booth, we showcased our products and solutions that meet certification requirements for Australian off-grid systems.
