12 Volt Solar Charge Controllers

Our 12 volt MPPT & PWM industrial grade solar charge controllers are built with performance and reliability in mind. They are specifically designed to meet the most demanding needs of small industrial, commercial, and residential off-grid systems, as well as mobile RV caravans and boating applications.

A wide variety of models are available, with open circuit voltages (Voc) ranging from 12-150 volts. Digital and printed quick start guides, datasheets and operation manuals in various languages are provided to support the products.

12 Volt PWM vs 12 Volt MPPT: What’s the difference?

Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) controllers operate at battery voltage to regulate power and run loads. They are generally used with nominal 36 cell solar modules rather than 30 cell modules that are often unsuitable for use with PWM controllers. They are typically less expensive than similarly rated maximum powerpoint tracking (MPPT) controllers.

Morningstar’s MPPT controllers with patented TrakStar MPPT technology, deliver more power than PWM controllers to charge batteries and run loads. 12 Volt MPPT charge controllers are recommended for 12 Volt battery systems that require additional power and support for oversized arrays in off-grid applications.

Use Cases of our 12 Volt Solar Charge Controllers

  • In Nepal, SS-20L-12V and SunSaver-10L-12V controllers were used during a record-breaking climb to Mt. Annapurna.
  • An art sculpture was illuminated with a Morningstar SunSaver-6.
  • The Morningstar SunSaver MPPT was used for solar street lighting in South Africa.
